Foster Basketball Stadium & Community Pavilion
The scope of this project encompassed both demolition and refurbishment of portions of the original building. Key enhancements included extending the basketball court to ensure compliance with regulations, creating a new foyer and reception area, installing a new kitchen, and providing dedicated community rooms. Additional improvements included a new program and gym area, a central office, change rooms, amenities, and storerooms.
The primary objective of the project was to develop an accessible indoor facility for sports, recreation, and community gatherings, addressing both current and future regional needs. The centre serves a diverse range of community user groups and supports multiple sports, such as basketball, netball, badminton, and volleyball. It also hosts significant community events, including the Foster Show, weekend craft markets, school sports programs, and is home to the University of the Third Age.
Local sports and community groups had advocated for years to upgrade the stadium. Their aim was to promote greater participation in various sporting activities and to ensure the centre could be used by additional groups, enabling the local community to come together.
