Foster Basketball Stadium & Community Pavilion
The scope for this project included the demolition and refurbishment of part of the original building, extending the basketball court to make it compliant, new foyer and reception area, new kitchen, community rooms, a new program and gym area, centre office, change rooms, amenities and storerooms.
The principal aim of the project was to create an accessible indoor sport, recreational and community gathering facility to service the current and future needs of the regional community. The centre has many different community user groups and accommodates a variety of sports including basketball, netball, badminton, and volleyball. Community events held at the centre include the Foster Show, weekend craft markets, school sports programs and it is also home to the University of the Third Age.
Local sports and community groups had campaigned for many years for the upgrade of the stadium with the aim of encouraging more people to participate in a range of sporting activities, and for the centre to be available to other users to bring the local community together.
