Jamieson Way Sports Hall & Pavilion

This project marks Stage 2 of the redevelopment at the Jamieson Way Community Centre site. The new multi-purpose sports hall, complete with adjacent amenities and a social room, serves a variety of community sports groups including basketball, netball, volleyball, and badminton.

The location of the new building posed a challenge, as it needed to fit between the existing netball and tennis courts and the Community Centre, while also maintaining enough open space between the two buildings for an outdoor community area and playground. Additionally, extending the outdoor netball courts was required. We considered the impact on surrounding open spaces and collaborated with the Council to design a landscape plan that features safe, well-vegetated outdoor areas with several picnic/BBQ spots and playground hubs.

The building is designed with a raked northern edge, reducing its visual impact on the courtyard spaces shared by the Community Centre and Sports Hall. Elevated windows set back from both the northern and southern façades bring in ample natural light and ventilation, helping us meet the Council’s sustainability target of 70% BESS.
