Jamieson Way Community Centre & Kindergarten
This project is stage 1 of a 2-stage development Point Cook. The design is a redevelopment and extension of an existing community centre where the kindergarten and community programs have outgrown the centre’s capacity.
Part of the design brief was to re-establish an entry to the centre that promotes a friendly and calm arrival point with good sight lines from the car park and road. The administration area was redeveloped and extended and includes a foyer area with reception.
A key driver for the centre redevelopment was to incorporate an additional kindergarten room along with maternal and child health consultation rooms. A community cafe and commercial kitchen have been included, and the circulation corridors connect through the building providing a rational flow between the community activity zones. High level windows allow more natural light into the centre of the facility.
